Protect privacy before you share

Posting photos of crowds, children, customers or bystanders? Blurring their faces is a simple way to respect their privacy and to comply with privacy rules such as GDPR. This tool finds faces automatically using an AI face-detection model that runs locally in your browser, then hides them with the effect you choose.

More than faces

Drag a box anywhere on the image to hide licence plates, house numbers, names on badges, addresses, screens or documents in the background. Move any box by dragging it, and remove it with its × button. Switch between oval and rectangular shapes, and add extra margin to make sure hair and ears are covered too.

Which effect should I use?

  • Pixelate is the classic mosaic effect and works well for faces and plates.
  • Blur looks softer and more natural in photos.
  • Solid blocks are the safest choice for sensitive text, because they cannot be reversed.

Fast and Accurate detection

Fast mode is ideal for portraits and group photos where faces look towards the camera. Accurate mode uses a larger model that is better at small, distant or angled faces. Always check the result before sharing and add boxes by hand for anything that was missed.

Frequently asked questions

Is face detection done on a server?
No. The AI model is downloaded once and runs entirely in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.
Can someone un-blur my image?
Strong pixelation and blur are very hard to reverse, but for highly sensitive information use the Solid effect, which removes the pixels completely.
What if a face is not detected?
Switch to Accurate detection, or simply drag on the photo to cover the face by hand.
Does it reduce the image quality?
No. The download keeps your original resolution, and only the hidden areas are changed.
