Create a digital signature in seconds

This free signature generator turns your handwriting into a clean image you can place on contracts, invoices, PDFs, letters and email footers. Draw it yourself for a genuine handwritten look, or type your name and choose from 12 elegant signature fonts. Everything happens in your browser: your signature is never uploaded or stored on a server.

Draw a natural-looking signature

The drawing pad smooths your strokes and varies the line width with your speed, just like a real pen: slower strokes are thicker, quick flicks taper off. On tablets and phones you can sign with your finger, and pressure-sensitive styluses such as Apple Pencil and Surface Pen are supported. Undo any stroke with the button or Ctrl+Z.

Type a signature in a handwriting font

Prefer to type? Enter your name and compare it in Dancing Script, Great Vibes, Sacramento, Allura, Alex Brush, Parisienne, Mr Dafoe, Homemade Apple, Satisfy, Herr Von Muellerhoff, Cedarville Cursive and La Belle Aurore. Adjust the slant, make the ink heavier or add an underline swoosh for a more personal finish.

Transparent PNG, SVG or JPG

  • PNG has a transparent background and is automatically trimmed to your signature, so it sits cleanly on any document.
  • SVG (for drawn signatures) is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, ideal for design apps and print.
  • JPG has a white background for apps that do not support transparency.

Choose a resolution up to 6× for crisp results when printed.

How to add your signature to a document

  • Word and Google Docs: click Copy image and paste it, or insert the downloaded PNG and place it above the signature line.
  • PDF: use the image or signature tool in your PDF editor and select the PNG.
  • Email signature: add the PNG to your signature settings in Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail.

Is an image signature legally binding?

In many countries an electronic signature, including a scanned or drawn image, can be valid for everyday agreements. Some documents require a certified digital signature or a wet ink signature, so check the rules that apply to you. This tool is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is this signature generator free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no account, no watermark and no limits.
Is my signature uploaded or saved?
No. Your signature is created in your browser and never leaves your device. Only your style settings are remembered locally.
Can I draw my signature on a phone?
Yes. Sign with your finger on any phone or tablet. Pressure-sensitive styluses are supported too.
How do I get a transparent background?
Download as PNG. The background is transparent and the image is trimmed tightly around your signature, with adjustable padding.
How do I insert my signature in Word or Google Docs?
Click Copy image and paste it into the document, or download the PNG and insert it as a picture.
Can I change the colour of my signature?
Yes. Pick black, blue or any custom ink colour. Changing the colour also recolours strokes you have already drawn.
What size should my signature image be?
For documents, 2× or 3× is plenty. Choose 4× to 6× if you plan to print it large.
